Musically sunday

Well, ehm yes.

Living close to the beach is luxury to me. That week gave me one of the best sunrises and mornings in my entire life, because I love the beach and that meditative effect sunrises at beaches give.

Always start with a good breakfast, they say. We therefore went to one of the Graniers nearby at P. Maritimo, and got a really good breakfast and a hot colacao. Colacao is a spanish version of hot cocoa, and it reminded pretty much of Milo. Granier became my spot for breakfast 😉

I actually love how they add olive oil on bread. Olive oil here is something different than what you get from stores here in Denmark, btw.

Then what else to do on a sunday?

My brother’s idea was to go for shopping at Plaza Mayor that sunday, after I landed in Spain. I needed some summer outfit, and he needed a new jacket, so why not?

Plaza Mayor is actually a 2-in-1 shopping space, with the Mc Arthur Glenn Outlet centre and the Plaza Mayor – that has plenty of restaurants, multiple fashion stores, entertainment areas etc. So these two together creates a huge area of shopping!

Taking the train C1 from Fuengirola to Málaga.

What we didn’t realize was that Plaza Mayor (and other shopping centres) are closed on sundays. And we only realized this at the moment we arrived at Plaza Mayor. How great. Only the restaurants were open.

So we got a lunch, and then went back home, and was pretty much bored. So I looked up at “things to do on sundays in Málaga”, and found out that several museums are open. Especially MIMA caught my attention, so I asked my brother if he wanted to join me. And he did 😉

To we took the next C1 to Málaga…

This was also my first time IN Málaga, and could immediately feel why the danish author HC Andersen used to come here too.

MIMA is Museo Interactivo de la Musica – yes, you are right – an interactive musical museum. Something for us, who are brought up with music since our births 😉

The interesting thing is that MIMA has a collection of musical instruments from all over the world. It is so beautiful to see, and even recognize many of them. It also has some rooms with instruments you can play. This was actually quite fun. The museum is divided into white, black and red sections. The white has large scale instruments and installations, and also temporary collections from the Roman Empire and the Medieval times are to be found here. The black section are dedicated to the origins of music, folklore music instruments from all over the world and recordings. The red spaces are installations with instruments you can play.

Fun fact: Did you know, that the length of the slowest music piece ever is 639 years?
