Catedral de Málaga

After visiting the MIMA, we walked down the streets of the Centro. We were a bit thirsty, so my brother took me to his favourite café (or cake place) – La Victoria, where we got some cake and something to drink.

Hereafter we went for another walk down the Centro, where we walked by the Teatro Romano and then the Catedral de Málaga. My brother hadn’t been to the Málaga cathedral, so he asked if I wanted to go inside and see it. I motly have a creepy feeling when it comes to churches. Especially as a child, I used to be a bit scared of the atmosphere in churches – mostly because of funerals are taken place in churches. But when he asked, I was like okay, he is asking, so let’s go..

I got some tickets for walking inside the church and then going upstairs on the top. It was quite interesting.

The Catedral de Málaga is, of course, a Roman-Catholic church, constructed between 1528 and 1782. It is built in the renaissance tradition, after the plans drawn by Diego de Siloe. I actually like the exterior parts of the church.

The garden of the church..

And inside the church 😉

What do you see? 😏

At the top of the church – this was actuall a beautiful view of Málaga 😉

Did you know, that the southern tower of this church remains unfinished? There are some theories about this. The most popular one is, that the construction was stopped due to a sudden lack of economic funds. Probably because that the War of Independence in the US was financed with puclib funds from the city of Málaga.
