Looking back at 2022 – year that taught me a lesson

The past year, 2022, has been a significant mental challenge for me. It’s taught me the vital importance of respecting personal boundaries and listening to my body, something I often advise others but struggled to follow myself 😅. Unexpectedly, it led to long-term sick leave due to enduring harassment, both sexual and through adult bullying. Though difficult, speaking out was a step I don’t regret.

As a committed feminist, I’ve always questioned sexist behaviors and felt strong enough to fight back. However, sustained daily harassment for months took its toll, leading to my sick leave. This experience taught me the necessity of seeking help and that others’ misbehavior isn’t my fault.

It’s been a significant learning curve, one I’ll carry forward, advocating for others. We must combat oppressive, abusive behavior as a community. Discussing these issues remains tough due to the taboo, but it’s time to break it together.

There’s an undeniable prevalence of harassment culture today, overshadowing genuine incidents. I even doubted my reactions for months, wondering if they were valid. I now understand my problem was real, and my reactions mattered.

I’m immensely grateful to my manager, colleagues, family, and friends for unwavering support, enabling my quicker return to work. Thanks to them, I’ve found joy in work again.

Fortunately, amidst this, 2022 offered unforgettable travels, celebrations, and cherished moments.

Thanks to everyone, looking forward to more joyous times ahead! 💪🥳
