Our time in Jaffna ended on a slightly disappointing note. Both my brother and I had hoped to spend more days exploring Jaffna, but our plans got disrupted by the need to catch a bus back to Colombo. Additionally, we had a scheduled trip to Sigiriya the following Tuesday, which required us to embark on an 8-9 hour bus journey from Jaffna to Colombo on Sunday evening. As a result, we had to cut short our time in Jaffna.
Midway through our bus journey, my brother fell ill, and I wasnβt feeling well either. Consequently, we had to make the tough call of canceling our Sigiriya trip and opted to stay put at the hotel π©
My brother was hit particularly hard, feeling completely drained. I managed to muster some energy to move around, handling tasks like fetching food and medicine for both of us. Once back in Colombo, we returned to the same hotel in Bambalapitiya – Radisson Hotel. Bambalapitiya, a rather pleasant area, served as our base during our stay.

As my cousin lives nearby, and her parents were staying there too, they helped us a lot. I can not thank them enough! β₯οΈ
The following monday I was able to join for my cousin’s daughter’s tooth ceremony. They initally wanted my brother to do all the main things, but he couldn’t join us. Hereafter I just relaxed, and went for some shopping, and try some food. The trip itself was disappointing. Hopefully we can get a better holiday next time πππ½
While walking around in Bambalapitiya to find a supermarket where I could buy something to eat, I walked by this temple. Manikkavinayagar Temple. I remembered visiting this temple back in 2003. So it was quite funny to suddenly enter this temple again efter 20 years. Hehe.

Let’s have some food pics π
Here, dinner at Dindigul Thalappakatti in Bambalapitiya. I got the yummy veg kothu and jigarthanda.

Lunch as Dwarka Indian Restaurant, Bambalapitiya. Thosai, of course π I missed eating thosai, and this one was SO good. Yumm π₯°

Nannari sarbath with my machi, at Mithaiwala in Wellawatte. I bought some mascoth and dhodhel here too for my family, and I tell you, they were soo good.

Lunch at Paradise Restaurant, Wellawatta.
Roast paan & seeni sambol for me.
Veg bamboo biryani for machi – I got to taste it, and this is so far the best biryani I’ve ever had! π

My mami gave me some bananas, that both my brother and I could eat. Not the bananas we can get in Europe, but the REAL, healthy ones! π

Dinner at my cousin’s home before take off to Denmark. Appam. And some ice creams, of course. These 2 ice creams are MUST try when you are in Sri Lanka π
