As a die-hard Real Madrid fanatic, hitting up the Santiago Bernabéu is like a pilgrimage, renovation or not! We marched in there, all hyped, only to find it wrapped up in renovation tape like a gift waiting to be unwrapped. Talk about timing! But hey, even under construction, seeing the home turf of your beloved team? That’s like a fan’s heartfelt ‘I was here!’ moment ⚽️♥️🥰
We wake up at the crack of dawn, ready to hit the Santiago Bernabéu at 10 am. But first, the hotel breakfast. Let’s just say it was like a sad trombone – pricey and not exactly a morning rave for our taste buds. We took one for the team that day, but we vowed: ‘No more overpriced blah-blah breakfasts!’ It was a breakfast hunt from then on, a quest for morning munchies that didn’t break the bank or break our taste-o-meters.
Here, a glimpse of the sad breakfast:
Ah, the Bernabéu saga! We rock up to the tour gate all pumped, ready for an epic stadium adventure. But lo and behold, enter the guide confusion! It was like a comedy sketch gone wrong. Wrong gates, wrong times, and a guide who was like, ‘English? Nope, not my jam.’ Cue the tour turmoil! 🤷🏻♀️
But hey, amidst the chaos, a hero emerged! Another guide to the rescue, saving our tour day and helping us jump on the next stadium tour. Talk about a plot twist! Sure, we missed some stadium secrets, but hey, we got that Insta-worthy pic with the Champions League trophy, so not all was lost! 🥹
Alright, here’s a top-secret reveal:
Hidden behind this cool exterior lies a hardcore Real Madrid aficionado since ‘03! Yep, that’s like two decades of ‘Hala Madrid’ cheers and secretly practicing Ronaldo’s celebration moves 🤭
And guess what? The stars aligned, the football gods whispered, and on the 20th anniversary of my fandom, 💥boom💥 Santiago Bernabéu tour! 😱
Shh, don’t spill the beans to the world 🤫 I’ve got a reputation as mysterious as a secret agent to uphold! 😜 Massive shoutout to my sweet, darling sissy T for the invite, even with the stadium wearing its construction gear. Still, it’s going down in the books as a ‘fan-tastic’ memory! 🥹😍
We had our tour tickets from Get Your Guide, and the price was approx. 330 DKK.
Then we to the metro back to Puerta de Sol, and went to Freedom Cakes.. to get some cake. OMG, so good!
Right after, we went to the Museum of Illusions, and it was insanely fun. I felt like it has been ages since I’ve laughed this much, and felt like a kid 🤪🤣
Museum of Illusions is actually a fast growing chain of museums, having exhibitions with illusions as the concept. This means, funny installations, that play with our brain. Quite interesting and fun for everyone 🤩
We wanted to try some paella in Madrid, despite of knowing paella is of Valencian origin. Haha. I did some research to find the best paella in Madrid, and Tripadvisor had La Paella de la Reina as one of the top places. However, our paella was not wauw. It was salty 😬
