Anirudh Live in Oberhausen ´23 🎶

Another month, another gig – this time, it’s Anirudh rocking it live in Oberhausen, Germany! My buddy A, the same legend I explored Istanbul with, hit me up with this epic invite along with a bunch of pals for the concert bash. Now, hold onto your hat: ticket sale last November, and I sprinted to say ‘Yes!’

Legendary A was like The Flash snagging those 5 golden tickets before they vanished into thin air. Wanna hear something mind-blowing? The concert was sols out in a lightning-fast 7 minutes, and we’re talking a massive 14k tickets here! Talk about a showstopper moment! 🤩😱

Okay, rewind to 2018; Anirudh’s concert was fire! Back then, I thought, ‘This guy’s hit his peak.’ But damn, was I wrong! This dude keeps dishing out bangers like there’s no tomorrow. So, when June 2023 was looming, I knew this concert was gonna be a monster. But hold the phone! 14k tickets? That’s like a full-blown Tamil tsunami! Even Rajnikanth, the Tamil superstar himself, tipped his hat to Anirudh during Jailer Audio Launch for hitting that milestone. Talk about some serious growth!

I mean, witnessing his evolution live? That’s like seeing an artist’s growth spurt in real-time. And let’s not forget, A and I were hyped beyond belief about hitting a Tamil concert together, and Anirudh was the cherry on top! Cue the party hats, wohooo! 🥳

I once again booked a room at Hotel Oberhausen Neue Mitte Melia, as the concert took place at Rudolf-Weber Arena, and I knew it would be perfect for the 3 of us, so we could reach out in a hurry. And we joined with the 2 other girls at the venue. I took the train, it was a 9-hour journey, but I was totally okay with it. The only minus was upon arrival, as one of my trains in Münster was cancelled, and it was so hot and I was extremely hungry and tired – ended up being hangry, haha. But I somehow reached the hotel even before the 2 others.

After checking in, we went for dinner at the Westfield Centro, and returned to the hotel and got some drinks 🍹

The next day, it’s brunch o’clock at Alex, on the CentrO Promenade! Now, brace yourself for the surprise: the brunch spread was pretty darn good! 😍

And get this, I was half-expecting a Tamil brunch takeover at the Promenade, but lo and behold, peace reigned supreme! I mean, I was low-key waiting for a Tamil foodie convention, but shhh, let’s keep that quiet! 🙊

Post-brunch, A uncovers a hidden gem: the Slinky Springs to Fame bridge nearby! A mere 1.6 km away, piece of cake, right? The cherry on top? The weather’s playing nice, and cue the photo op! Perfect weather, good vibes, and the click of the camera capturing our epic trek to that bridge. Strike a pose, capture the moments, and voilà, picture-perfect memories in the making! 😄

Pre-concert hustle! quick freshening up, outfit change, and guess what? Zero hunger mode activated too! We’re like superheroes with no appetite powers. But that doesn’t matter, flashback to Yuvan’s concert and the ‘food or no food’ dilemma. But hold onto your hats, folks! This time, a twist in the concert tale! The venue, just like Yuvan’s gig, had a foodie paradise waiting! But this time, there’s a plot twist! The venue, my friends, offered Tamil food 🤩 And you know what that means? Relief! No settling for boring fries; we’re talking belly-filling, soul-nourishing Tamil goodness 😍 That’s the key to unlocking happy tummies and concert bliss! 😆🙈

I got to buy sharbath, mango lassi and plenty of veg samosas, that we shared. So tasty btw!

Well, well, well… the warm-up lineup was quite the rollercoaster! Picture this: Princeten Charles, Ratty Athithan, and The Mystro rocking the stage like nobody’s business—bravo, gents 👏

But then, in walks Daniel Yogathas and the DJ, and let’s just say they hit a different note…a note called ‘disappointment’ 😅 It’s like they played ‘mood-killer’ on repeat 😂🤦🏻‍♀️ But amidst the highs and lows, The Mystro was the shining light in this concert maze 😅

There were some dance performances too, that were really good 😄

Priyanka Deshpande was the host, and it was quite nice to see her on stage. I know, many don’t like her, but I think she is good 😉

And then, the moment we’ve all been waiting for – The main star struts in, and it was pure 🔥

It’s like the universe hit the ‘ultimate performer’ button, and the energy skyrocketed! Lights, music, action; this star set the night ablaze in a blaze of sheer magnificence! ✨

So, let’s dish out the concert tale! Picture this: intervals between the madness, a breather to refuel at the food court or dash to the restroom. But the real star-studded spectacle? It wasn’t just only Anirudh stealing the spotlight, oh no! Jonita Gandhi, Adhitya RK, and that crowd! A colossal 14k-strong concert fiesta, where the magic wasn’t just on stage, but in every single person there! It’s like diving headfirst into a whirlwind of musical enchantment, where EVERYONE’s singing, dancing, and vibing like a well-rehearsed chorus! Imagine the sheer thrill of syncing up with 14k souls. Insanity, right? Weeks later I’m still in awe, just like that Yuvan magic a few months ago 😍

But this? Singing, dancing, and getting lost in the vibes with a sea of people? Totally out of this world! Pure, unimaginable bliss! 😍🤩

Songs like Vikram Title Song, Arabic Kuthu, Dippam Dappam, Kanave Kanave, Thenmozhi/Mayakkama, Ethirneechal, Chennai City Gangster, Maari, VIP Title Song, Aluma Doluma etc. were performed. Just

So, post-concert verdict: A’s off to the afterparty, while K and I opt for a chill session back at the hotel—drinks and a heart-to-heart. Man, what a night! That concert? Unforgettable! Already marking my calendar for Anirudh’s next European stint. I’m in for the encore 😄 Here’s hoping he graces us with his musical presence again real soon! 😁
