Ah, Rome! A city where ancient wonders collide with modern-day delights, beckoning me for another round of adventures. But before the Colosseum stole the spotlight, a familiar craving for flavors led to a rendezvous at Saravanaa Bhavan – a temple of South Indian and Tamil culinary wonders. I apologize for my inappropriate behavior here, but the sad culinary experience from Nappoli lingered and had led to an unstoppable craving for spicy food 😅
Fueled by this flavorful feast, the Colosseum awaited, beckoning with memories of a bygone visit in 2006. The grandeur remained unchanged, casting a nostalgic spell that transported me back in time, echoing the same majestic aura. Did you know that the Colosseum, the ancient amphitheater in Rome, could hold up to 80,000 spectators and hosted various events, including gladiator contests and public spectacles, in its heyday?
My ticket to the Colosseum was a combination of entry to both Colosseum, Foro Fomano, and a Sightseeing bus tour, for 39€.
Followed by a reunion with Foro Romano, I was once again taken aback to the memories from the study trip in 2006. Feeling old? Perhaps 🙃
Post-Foro Romano, a pit stop with an Oreo milkshake recharged my energy, setting the stage for a sightseeing bus tour. However, the bus tour turned out to be a bit like a speed date with Rome’s landmarks – multiple stops but not enough time to truly woo each one. I think you should spent a whole day on the bus ride alone, so that you can spend some time on each or some of the stops 😏
Note to self: Rome isn’t a city for a speedy romance; it demands a leisurely embrace 😌
With the day winding down, what better way to wrap up than another delightful rendezvous at Saravanaa Bhavan? This time, it was a savory kothu, sealing the deal on a love affair with South Indian and Tamil cuisine. Proof that when it comes to food, there’s no limit to expressing love, especially if it’s through delicious dishes that scream “South Indian” in your face 😙
Amidst the colossal wonders and culinary escapades, Rome served up a delightful blend of history, a beautiful reunion, flavors, and a lesson on the art of taking time to savor both ancient marvels and cherished cuisines.
