Today was a huge day for Denmark as Queen Margrethe abdicated and handed over the throne to her son, King Frederik X, and his wife, Queen Mary.
I’m not a die-hard royalist, but I’m genuinely impressed by the Danish Queen and the new King and Queen. Their down-to-earth nature is simply amazing, like when they participate in the Royal Run alongside regular folks. It’s lovely to see them being so relatable. I find them truly inspiring and think they make a wonderful pair!
King Frederik X and Queen Mary of Denmark are dedicated advocates for social causes. Through their patronage and foundation work, they have made significant contributions to inclusivity and compassion in their society.
As the patron of HΓΈreforeningen, King Frederik X promotes equality and support for individuals with hearing loss. His involvement brings awareness to their challenges and fosters a more inclusive society.
Queen Mary’s establishment of the Mary Foundation addresses important social issues, including domestic violence and bullying. Her foundation’s initiatives promote compassion and improve the lives of vulnerable individuals.

King Frederik X and Queen Mary’s advocacy inspires others to make a difference. Their compassion and active engagement serve as examples of leadership in creating a more empathetic and inclusive world.
Their initiatives and philanthropy have a lasting impact, inspiring others to take action and create positive change in society.
As we bid farewell to Queen Margrethe as the regent of Denmark, I recall some moments that really changed my view of the royal family:
Queen Margrethe’s decision to cancel her 80th birthday celebration during the COVID-19 pandemic has reinforced her inspirational status in Danish society. Her selflessness, integrity, and commitment to public health demonstrate the qualities of a responsible leader. It serves as a powerful reminder to prioritize the well-being of others in times of crisis.
Moreover, during the 1980s, she warmly welcomed the Tamil community, showcasing her openness to diverse cultures. Her embrace of Tamil refugees fleeing conflict in Sri Lanka fostered inclusivity and provided a safe haven. Queen Margrethe’s actions exemplify her belief in embracing individuals from different backgrounds and promoting multicultural harmony, earning her respect and reflecting her vision of an inclusive Denmark.

Although I didnβt travel to Copenhagen, I watched the throne pass on live from my home. It was heartwarming to witness the new King shedding tears of emotion and witnessing the beautiful moment when they shared a kiss, expressing their love for each other. And seeing them with their children was incredibly touching too. It was a truly beautiful sight!
I’m genuinely excited about the new King’s reign. I have no doubt that he will do a fantastic job, with the new Queen by his side as an incredible support system and a great Queen in her own right.
I took the opportunity to send a personal wish to the new regent couple, just like DR offered a service where they collected wishes from people to create a gift that will be presented to the pair β₯οΈ
