Off to Valencia 🇪🇸

To celebrate my birthday, I decided to take a slightly belated holiday and spent a week in Valencia. Valencia had been on my radar for quite some time, ever since I saw the Tamil film “Sivaji the Boss,” which featured a song filmed in Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias. The place looked so cool that I thought, “I have to see this in person one day.” Since I’ve been to Spain a few times and already love the country, Valencia was an obvious choice 😄

I opted to stay overnight in Copenhagen because I had an early Monday morning flight from Kastrup. I usually crash in Copenhagen when flying from Kastrup because I enjoy some solo time in the city, indulging in good food all by myself. There’s just something about it – probably the absence of anyone stealing my fries 🤭🤪

Made a new friend while taking the flight from CPH to Valencia. And the same cutiepie were on board while flying back home again 🥰

Even the name Valencia sounds beautiful! But hey, we need to know a bit about Valencia, right?

Valencia is a vibrant city on Spain’s east coast, part of the Valencian Community. They’ve got two official languages there: Spanish and Valencian (which is kinda like Catalan). The Valencians are really proud of their language and have a long history of writing great poetry and stories in it.
But, Valencia isn’t just about awesome beaches and stunning buildings – it’s got a rich and influential linguistic culture too!

In Valencia, I booked a room at MYR Hotel Puerta Serranos, conveniently located next to Torres des Serranos, one of the two city gates that still exist today.

Fun fact: there were originally 12 gates built in the 14th century, but in the 19th century, they closed ten of them to let the city stretch its legs.

The location of the hotel is perfect, right next to Puerta Serranos and bus stops, and within walking distance to the Centro Historico. The hotel itself is charming and tidy, with beautiful interiors and exceptionally friendly staff.

I think Valencia is a beautiful and fascinating city with an exciting history and stunning architecture. Plus, it’s the birthplace of paella; what’s not to love? 😉

When I arrived at the hotel, I had a great chat with one of the receptionists. She recommended a few places with top-notch paella, including Ferros, which was just a 2-minute walk from the hotel. So, I booked a table, took a quick shower, and headed out for a slightly late, but delicious lunch 😋

The rest of the afternoon was spent exploring the nearby areas and doing a bit of delicacies shopping at Sabor a España.

Valencia was everything I hoped it would be: beautiful sights, delicious food, and a lovely blend of relaxation and exploration.

If you’re looking for a place with a rich history, incredible architecture, and mouthwatering cuisine, Valencia should definitely be on your list 😉
