Today marks Aadi Pirappu, a significant festival in Tamil culture, and my mom and I decided to celebrate by making Aadi Koozh, a traditional dish cherished by Sri Lankan Tamils. It’s been a few years since we last prepared something special for Aadi Pirappu, even though we always go all out for Thai Pongal.
Another month, another gig – this time, it’s Anirudh rocking it live in Oberhausen, Germany! My buddy A, the same legend I explored Istanbul with, hit me up with this epic invite along with a bunch of pals for the concert bash. Now, hold onto your hat: ticket sale last November, and I sprinted to say ‘Yes!’
Legendary A was like The Flash snagging those 5 golden tickets before they vanished into thin air. Wanna hear something mind-blowing? The concert was sols out in a lightning-fast 7 minutes, and we’re talking a massive 14k tickets here! Talk about a showstopper moment! 🤩😱
The much-anticipated wedding day of our dear friend finally arrived! It was an absolute delight to witness their union and share in the joy of their special day. The event was graced by renowned personalities and many familiar faces from my dad’s circle of friends. The gathering was nothing short of grand – a celebration filled with happiness that left quite an impression!
Touching down in Yaazhpanam [Jaffna/Yarl/Yaazh] around 3 am, exhaustion washed over us. Yaazhpanam holds a special place as our parents’ hometown, so the thrill of returning and exploring the town at our own pace filled us with excitement! ♥️😍

My brother and I jetted off to Sri Lanka last month, primarily to attend a friend’s wedding, but we also aimed to relish the sights and sounds of the country, particularly Yarl (Jaffna), on our own terms. Right from the get-go, our excitement knew no bounds—it was an adventure we eagerly anticipated from day one! 😁
You might have heard about murungai (moringa) and its benefits. It’s something people in Asia have been eating for generations, but only recently people in the west “recognized” it as a superfood. Not only the tree’s leaves, but also the sticks and bark are useful, and have been used in food and for medication, mainly in Siddha Maruthuvam, for ages. The word muringa is actually derived from the tamil name murungai and the malayali name muringa.
We use the sticks very much, and it’s easy to buy them in the local tamil stores, but the leaves are not always imported. Whenever we are able to buy them, we do, because we love them and of course of the benefits.
