Wedding Vibes and Amma’s Hometown 🥰

The much-anticipated wedding day of our dear friend finally arrived! It was an absolute delight to witness their union and share in the joy of their special day. The event was graced by renowned personalities and many familiar faces from my dad’s circle of friends. The gathering was nothing short of grand – a celebration filled with happiness that left quite an impression!

With an early morning start at 06:30 and still buzzing from the lively mehendi function, sleep eluded me completely. Surprisingly, not having to rush to get ready turned out to be a stroke of luck! 😄 My brother and I hopped into an auto/tuk-tuk from Hospital Rd. to Inuvil, and the drive during the early hours was surprisingly pleasant. Moments like these make me adore Jaffna even more! 🥰

The wedding day was a splendid affair, albeit a lengthy one filled with numerous ceremonies that were intriguing to witness. Once the beautiful couple tied the knot, exhaustion started to weigh us down, and all we craved was some much-needed rest. However, our dear hosts, our friend’s parents, and family members insisted we stay back to savor the Kalyaana Sappaadu – the quintessential wedding feast. Leaving a wedding without relishing the lunch simply wasn’t an option, a sentiment we fully understood. Despite our weariness, the family’s affectionate gestures and overflowing love compelled us to wait eagerly for the sumptuous meal they were preparing.

During this time, our friend’s aunt, in her kindness, suggested exploring Suthumalai, our amma’s hometown nearby Inuvil, as we awaited the meal. It was an offer we couldn’t resist! Even though I knew my brother was exhausted, his sweet gesture of joining in warmed my heart 🤪

Visiting Suthumalai was a cherished item on our bucket list, and I couldn’t contain my excitement when we finally had the opportunity to go. Our destination was the Puvaneswary Amma Kovil in Suthumalai—a significant temple that held a special place in our mom’s heart. Incidentally, she and her family used to reside in the lane opposite to the temple, adding a personal touch to our visit 🤩

As luck would have it, the temple gates opened just as we arrived, allowing us to swiftly enter, offer our prayers, and make a timely return to the wedding festivities.

Suthumalai, a village near Inuvil in Jaffna, is known for its religious sites, with Puvaneswary Amma Kovil being a revered place of worship among locals.

Seeeeee, the yummy wedding feast 😋
