Slice of Adventure: A Doughy Encounter at St. Michรจle dal 1870 ๐Ÿ•๐Ÿ•๐Ÿ•๐Ÿ•๐Ÿ•

The last day in Naples was spent hiking Vesuvio, which meant there was also some time to relax. After all, you can’t walk all day, can you? ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿคฃ
When it came to dinner, I was getting a little unsure of what to eat – because Napoli hadn’t exactly offered anything exciting or insanely delicious so far.

As previously mentioned, my brother has also been around Italy, including Napoli a few years ago. He chose to eat at the second oldest pizzeria in the world, and he recommended this place to me as well, with the caveat that the line can be long, so it’s best to get there as early as possible. Sound convincing enough to my little ears? Well, no. I certainly wasn’t going to stand in line for hours for a pizza – even though my brother had promised me a great deal.

And yet, right on the last day in Napoli, my heart changed its mind, so I decided to take the chance anyway and went to the place to get my dinner.

In the heart of Napoli lies a treasure trove of pizza history โ€“ St. Michรจle dal 1870, the world’s second oldest pizzeria. And I, initially hesitant to join the pizza pilgrimage, found myself in a last-minute dash for a taste of culinary antiquity. But lo and behold, what awaited was a queue that could challenge marathon waiting records! Reports of hour-long standoffs filled the air, like a battle for the holy grail of pizzas! ๐Ÿ˜…

Upon arrival I encountered not only one, but two queues โ€“ a quirky pizza paradox. One for those eager to dine in and another for the on-the-go pizza aficionados. With a menu sporting only four vegetarian pizza choices, choosing a pie became a speedier task than anticipated. Standing tall (literally) for approximately 40 minutes, I finally secured a seat at this legendary establishment. The wait for the piรจce de rรฉsistance, a classic Margherita, lasted a tantalizing 20 minutes. And the price for this slice of history? A mere 5,50โ‚ฌ! ๐Ÿ˜

As the first bite of that iconic Margherita danced on my taste buds, I found myself marveling at the simple, yet divine flavors. A journey that began with hesitance ended with a triumph in pizza appreciation. Who knew that a historic queue and a 20-minute pizza wait could lead to such a delicious revelation? St. Michรจle dal 1870 isn’t just about age; it’s about tradition. This pizzeria strictly adheres to tradition, serving up only vegetarian pizzas, a tribute to its humble beginnings rooted in simplicity.

In conclusion, I simply added another notch to my pizza belt, proudly proclaiming to have dined at the world’s second oldest pizzeria. Second oldest – not the oldEST, because that one is located far far away for me to sacrifice. Napoli, known for its chaotic charm, served up a slice of history, leaving me both satiated and amused by the quirks of pizza pilgrimage. A legendary experience in a hectic city has come to an end. Now, onward to the north – to beautiful Rome ๐Ÿ›๏ธ
