During my vacation in Valencia, I bought a two-day ticket to Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias, planning to visit the Science Museum, the Hemisféric, and the Oceanografic on Tuesday and Wednesday. But not only that 😄
Tuesday started with breakfast at a local café, followed by a trip to Valencia’s Mercdo Central. Breakfast at the Brunch Corner – La Virgen, close to Plaza de la Reina, as this place has many good reviews on Trip Advisor. However, I didn’t find the food appealing. Pretty much tasteless, and I wonder why. Like, how can such tasteless food get so many good reviews? I dunno, but I’m not recommending this place 😝🫢

Buying spices, I had researched this beforehand because I needed to buy saffron. Turns out there’s a dealer in the market selling high-quality stuff. I ended up buying a lot, along with some other spices. Mission accomplished! 😎

With my spice haul safely stashed away, I headed to Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias. I spent the day taking pictures and filming a bit because the place is just stunning. I got to see a lot of exhibitions, which were both fascinating and family-friendly, so it’s definitely a spot I’d recommend. Plus, the architecture is beyond impressive.

I spent about five hours exploring Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias on the first day.

I also had a ticket for a show at the Hemisféric. While the architecture of the place is mind-blowing, the show I watched was… well, less so. It was about CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, but it ended up being pretty boring. Sorry, Hemisféric! I hear the shows vary, so there might be others that are more interesting.

I had booked a table for dinner at an Indian restaurant named Bharat, near Plaça de l’Ajuntament. It turned out to be a tiny, rather sad place. The employees weren’t exactly brimming with hospitality; in fact, they kept staring at me while I ate. Talk about awkward dining experiences! 🫠

As for the food, let’s just say it was a letdown. I ordered baingan bharta with lemon rice. What I got was a beautiful-looking but utterly tasteless baingan bharta, and a so-called “lemon rice” that was essentially yellow-colored basmati rice with a few lemon pieces thrown in. Note to Bharat: that’s not how lemon rice is made! 🤦🏻♀️
So, yeah, I won’t be recommending this place anytime soon!Thankfully, the evening took a turn for the better when I grabbed some delicious fro-yo from Llaollao, just near my hotel. It was a much-needed sweet treat to end my long day, far better than the disastrous Indian meal. Haha 😬

In between all the exploring, I made sure to take plenty of breaks to soak in the beautiful surroundings. The whole area is like a futuristic playground for architecture lovers. I couldn’t stop marveling at the buildings and structures – they’re just so cool!
