After a whopping 16 years away from the adrenaline-pumping world of amusement parks, I finally made my grand return – and let me tell you, I was beyond excited! 😅
My sweet sister-from-another-mother and I had been talking for ages about going on a summer adventure together, especially since it’s been far too long since our last trip. After tossing around a few ideas, we finally decided on Fårup Sommerland as our destination. Now, she’d been there once many years ago, but for me, it was uncharted territory 🤣

I’ve always had a soft spot for Djurs Sommerland – in my mind, it’s the gold standard of fun. So, I’ll be honest, I had my doubts about Fårup. I kinda pictured it as this small, second-rate park that wouldn’t hold a candle to Djurs. But hey, I hadn’t been on a roller coaster or any ride for that matter in what felt like forever, so I figured, why not give it a shot?
Originally, we had our trip penciled in for July, but then – classic me; I decided to spontaneously hop on a plane to Athens (because, why not?) 😂
So, we pushed our Fårup adventure to last Saturday, and thank goodness, the weather gods were on our side. The forecast was looking decent, so we packed up and hit the road, ready for whatever thrills awaited us.
As soon as we walked into Fårup Sommerland, my skepticism started to melt away. The place had good a vibe, and before I knew it, I was slowly catching that old amusement park buzz. And let me just say, Fårup totally blew my expectations out of the water! The rides were on another level – way more intense and fun than I’d imagined. However, it took me some time to get back into the swing of things – 16 years off the roller coaster circuit and some post commotio syndrome will do that to you, but hey, the vestibular organ has to g’et used to it, right? 🤪😬🫨

One of the first rides we tackled were Falken and Orkanen. Man, my head was like a rollercoaster itself 🫨 But honestly, I really enjoyed the Orkanen, specially! Next was just a “cosy” ride on a pedal boat, somehow the boat didn’t really worked with us, so we went for the Fåruo Rafting, a cosy one. And then lunch at Oasen. The food was dry and not that tasty, so I will not recommend it 😅

Post lunch, it was Træstammerne, which is more like me – I love the rides with water splashes! Haha 🤣💦
And then the Fønix – 4 times winner in European rollercoasters, so this had to be insane. And it was! Insane, but still a good one, but I actually started to feel dizzy and needed to take some rest and some Panodol, while T went for a ride on Saven. But, luckily the Panadol helped me and a fem minutes later I was ready for the Saven too!

Finally, it was time for Lynet. We both thought we knew what to expect, but nope – this ride was insane. It was so fast, we were whipping around at speeds that made it impossible to sit upright without getting a good smack in the head. We were laughing and screaming the whole time, completely caught off guard by just how intense it was. It was the kind of ride that leaves you breathless, but dizzy too, so beware! 🫨🫨🫨
But the true star of the day was Saven. Oh. My. God. This ride didn’t just meet my expectations – it blasted them to pieces. Just when you think you’ve got it all figured out, bam! The ride throws it into reverse, and suddenly you’re rocketing backward, totally disoriented and loving every second of it. It was such a wild twist, literally, and made the whole experience unforgettable. And of course, I can’t forget the Træstammerne – another favorite that was pure, simple fun. There’s just something about those classic water rides that always hits the spot.

By the end of the day, I was completely won over. Fårup Sommerland wasn’t the “crappy little park” I’d imagined; it was indlede fun, packed with surprises that kept us on our toes. And the best part? Sharing all those laughs, screams, and memories with my sister-from-another-mother, who always knows how to turn an ordinary day into an extraordinary adventure.
So Fårup, you didn’t disappoint me! 🤣
