Okay, let’s pick up where we left off – Jaffna! 😃😍
Following my solo excursion to Jaffna Fort, I rendezvoused with my brother at the Jaffna Public Library to explore the area. Conveniently situated on the same road is the Thanthai Chelva Memorial, which houses the library as well—just a few meters apart, in fact.
During our visit to Jaffna in 2003, we missed out on exploring the historical attractions. We visited a few temples like Nainativu Nagapoosani Amman Kovil, Sannadhi, Nallur, and Tellippalai. It was a bit disappointing as we stayed at our paternal aunt’s home, and unfortunately, none of them suggested any sightseeing spots. It felt like the most uneventful part of our trip, and I started to wonder if Jaffna was just inherently boring. Upon returning to Denmark, I turned to Google and stumbled upon numerous fascinating places in Jaffna, which left me slightly annoyed, to say the least! 😅
However, dwelling on the past won’t change a thing. Thankfully, the beauty of the future lies in the opportunity to revisit and explore. This time around, I was thrilled to spend some quality time in Jaffna. Yet, as it turns out, two days is simply not enough to uncover all its wonders!
The much-anticipated wedding day of our dear friend finally arrived! It was an absolute delight to witness their union and share in the joy of their special day. The event was graced by renowned personalities and many familiar faces from my dad’s circle of friends. The gathering was nothing short of grand – a celebration filled with happiness that left quite an impression!
Touching down in Yaazhpanam [Jaffna/Yarl/Yaazh] around 3 am, exhaustion washed over us. Yaazhpanam holds a special place as our parents’ hometown, so the thrill of returning and exploring the town at our own pace filled us with excitement! ♥️😍

My brother and I jetted off to Sri Lanka last month, primarily to attend a friend’s wedding, but we also aimed to relish the sights and sounds of the country, particularly Yarl (Jaffna), on our own terms. Right from the get-go, our excitement knew no bounds—it was an adventure we eagerly anticipated from day one! 😁
