๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡น Etiopian food in Madrid ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ธ

Not to get too much of boring food, and just to try something new (for T), I asked her if she would like to try some Etiopian food. She was a bit nervous, but gave it a try, and ended up liking it, as it reminds of tamil food ๐Ÿ˜‰ So this was what we were going to eat, after our trip to Toledo. We were pretty much exhausted, but that didn’t stop us from eating ๐Ÿ˜†

I had reserved a table at Restaurante Gonder Etiope in Madrid. Again pretty much close to our hotel. As they have a sharing menu, we got to share a vegetarian plate. I was a bit nervous thinking if T would like vegetarian food, but that was not a problem at all ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿฅฐ

If you ask me, Etiopian food is SO underrated in this world! This was the 2nd time I tried Etiopian food, the first time in Berlin. I love their Injera, that is made of teff flour, that only grows in Etiopia. However, Injera reminds of our tamil appam, and their curries remind of tamil curries too. Maybe I should try making etiopian food one day ๐Ÿค—

Restaurant Bahรญa ๐Ÿฒ

I was recommended to try Restaurant Bahรญa by M, the lady from Finland I met on the trip to Caminito del Rey. She too stayed somewhere in Fuengirola, nearby this restaurant, and said she’d eaten here several times. So I asked my brother if he again wanted to join me for dinner. I told him that I was going to try their paella, and he was okay with that. I guess it’s a Mediterranean themed restaurant, as they had both spanish, greek and italian dishes.

We first went for a starter. I got a simple caprese.

Then the flavourful paella de verduras – vegetarian paella for my brother and I ๐Ÿ˜‰ This was really good, btw!

Finally, we again got a Limoncello. We didn’t go for a dessert, as we were full. The Limoncello we got here was a bit bitter, not as good as the other one we got at Limoncello Ristorante. But the service at both restaurants were great.

First time trying paella ;)

After a too quick visit to the Botanical Garden in Mรกlaga, I finally managed to get an Uber in a rush, and arrived to Centro Historico, where I found a restaurant to get some lunch. I just felt I had to eat something before going for the Hammam, so I found Tapa Boca, that is located close to where the Uber driver could drop me off. It is a spanish restaurant, and they offered veg paella, so I gave it a try as I haven’t tried a paella before – and when in Spain you should of course try a paella ๐Ÿ˜‰

The paella was pretty good.

Lunch at La Tagliatella, Plaza Mayor

After exploring the Alcazaba of Malaga and the Gibralfaro, I was so hungry – so hungry, that I actually didnโ€™t what to eat, because I was to tired. I had walked 12 km, and couldnโ€™t really think about searching for a quiet place to eat, so I just went for the first restaurant I could see. Some cafรฉ that didnโ€™t offer much vegetarian food – so I got a bread with some tomatoes and a coke ๐Ÿ˜…

Herefter I decided to go for the Plaza Mayor, so I took the C1 line. Went for a proper lunch at La Tagliatella.

Damn, what a great lunch it was!

Garganelli allโ€™uovo e burrata (with tomato sauce, basil and homemade burrata). It was so authentic ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜‹

And then some shopping ๐Ÿ˜‰

Cantina Mariachi – Mexican in Fuengirola

Did you know it’s actually pronounced Fu-en-hi-ro-la? Neither I, so I was happy when a native from Fuengirola corrected me ๐Ÿ™‚

If you ever plan to travel to Andalucia, you can stay in Fuengirola. It’s much cheaper than Mรกlaga, and there is this C1 train from Fuengirola to Mรกlaga 3 times an hour, and it only takes 30 min. I loved this travel, because you get to see Costa del Sol throughout the travel by train. I did this every day, and some days even 2-3 times. Hehe ๐Ÿ˜‰

Can you see the cute parrots here? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Okay. After that walking through in Fuengirola to CC Miramar and some hours at the beach, we were of course hungry. My brother asked me if I was in mood for Mexican food. I was like “ehm, maybe”, but could feel he really wanted Mexican food for dinner, and I didn’t want to spoil anything, so I said ok. He took me to one of his favourite Mexican restaurants, Cantina Mariachi, at Calle Larga, and promised that I wouldn’t regret. And I didn’t. I came back few days later ๐Ÿ˜‰

We both went for his favourite dish – an XL burrito in a vegetarian version, they made for us. It was sooooo good. Yummmm.

Also the staff is friendly and talkative. You feel like you’ve known them for ages!

The good part is that this restaurant (and many others) are located only 5 minutes by walk from my brother’s apartment. And Calle Larga definitely a great spot for dining!

Then we went to Plaza de la Constitucion. This place is indeed one of my favourite spots in Fuengirola. I am really looking forward to go back. Pl. de la Constituion is like a place for socializing it seems, and it happens just in front of the church.

As long as I was there, something happened every evening – concerts, live shows, etc., and the atmosphere was so cozy.
