The legendary Segway-tour in Madrid 🤪

Sissy’s all about that Segway life, and there I am, a bundle of nerves thinking, ‘This Segway thing? No way!’ 😵‍💫😵

Rumor had it that maneuvering a Segway is like doing ballet on a tightrope. Cue the nervous sweats! 🫣

But you know what? YOLO, right? 😅 So, I hop on, thinking I’ve got this. Reality check: Me and that Segway? We’re the newest comedy duo in Madrid—two-wheel antics at their finest! 😂😂 But hey, laughter ensued!

IT’S THE FUNNIEST THING E V E R ! 😆🤣

🇪🇹 Etiopian food in Madrid 🇪🇸

Not to get too much of boring food, and just to try something new (for T), I asked her if she would like to try some Etiopian food. She was a bit nervous, but gave it a try, and ended up liking it, as it reminds of tamil food 😉 So this was what we were going to eat, after our trip to Toledo. We were pretty much exhausted, but that didn’t stop us from eating 😆

I had reserved a table at Restaurante Gonder Etiope in Madrid. Again pretty much close to our hotel. As they have a sharing menu, we got to share a vegetarian plate. I was a bit nervous thinking if T would like vegetarian food, but that was not a problem at all 😃🥰

If you ask me, Etiopian food is SO underrated in this world! This was the 2nd time I tried Etiopian food, the first time in Berlin. I love their Injera, that is made of teff flour, that only grows in Etiopia. However, Injera reminds of our tamil appam, and their curries remind of tamil curries too. Maybe I should try making etiopian food one day 🤗

Toledo, the beautiful city of 3 cultures ✝️☪️✡️

The 2nd day was spent in an ancient town located about 75 km from Madrid, and has a wide span of history starting from 193 CE.

T had booked a guided tour to Toledo via Get Your Guide, and we had to meet the guide (and the other travellers) at Las Ventas in Madrid. As it was early in the morning, we therefore decided to take the metro to Las Ventas early, and eat the breakfast there. Las Ventas is actually the largest bullfighting ring in Spain. We had plans about going inside Las Ventas after returning from Toledo, but sadly no tickets were available 🙁

Back to Toledo! It is indeed a very beautiful city, and has been influenced by 3 religions; christianity, judaism and islam. In 1986 Toledo was declared an UNESCO World Heritage Site, due to its immeasurable cultural and monumental heritage.

Visiting Toledo was indeed an unforgettable moment. I was literally stunned by its beauty and history. If you ever go to Madrid, visting Toledo is highly recommendable ☺️

Santiago Bernabéu ⚽️ & Museum of Illusions, Madrid 🎭

As a die-hard Real Madrid fanatic, hitting up the Santiago Bernabéu is like a pilgrimage, renovation or not! We marched in there, all hyped, only to find it wrapped up in renovation tape like a gift waiting to be unwrapped. Talk about timing! But hey, even under construction, seeing the home turf of your beloved team? That’s like a fan’s heartfelt ‘I was here!’ moment ⚽️♥️🥰

Madrid, belleza! 😍🇪🇸

Out of the blue, my sweetest sissy from another mommy throws me a curveball: an invite to Madrid! She snagged two tickets for a whirlwind 3-day trip, and naturally, I couldn’t resist! I felt this urge to jet off with her; after all, I’d been itching for a getaway after the past few months’ routine. Haha, talk about perfect timing! 😂😅

The journey kicked off from Billund on a Sunday night, April 30th, and returned the following Thursday. Expectations? Nah!

Even as a die-hard Real Madrid fan, I strolled into Madrid with absolute zilch for expectations. It’s like going to a party without expecting cake. Pure madness, right? 🤪

But, surprise! A colleague hyped up Madrid as the ultimate gem, and boy, he was spot on! Madrid, the underrated wonder, stole my heart. Three days felt like a tease; you discovered a new favorite city and realized it’s just the tip of the Madrid magic iceberg. 🎉✨🤗🤩
