Life Update January ‘15

January ’15 has been so awesome. Beside New Year, I really don’t like January, because it’s so cold and there’ll be a lot of snow. Yet this January was really awesome, with fun with friends and shopping – yes, January sale! Believe me, I’ve never been that much lucky when it comes to this kind of sale, because I’ve never been able to find something I liked, but this time, I found some great stuff, FINALLY! 😀

Today’s good deed

It has actually been a hectic day at work today. It started okay with a meeting with the Hearing Aid-team, but unfortunately it took a bit more time than expected, so all of us started our “real” work a bit too late. And yes, I am not that good in limiting myself when talking with the patients. I easily fall into convo with everyone, and I start talking about almost everything, because I find it cozy.

So.. I was running a little late, but fortunately I caught the time, and everything went okay thereafter. But still, I felt tired and hoped to come home and relax a little bit, before I had to go to the blood bank in Skejby. But I got some issues with a treatment, so I had to take a convo with a colleague, and then I got home late. I just had to eat very quickly and take the bus..

I love to do good stuff, and I always appreciate helping others, and I do as much as I can. I feel so god when doing it. So today’s good deed was to donate blood, I was actually looking forward to this, because my last donation was a year ago O_O

Yes – I don’t know what happened, but when I moved from Odense, I asked the blood bank over there to send all my details to the one in Skejby. But by a strange reason this never happened, and the one in Skejby never contacted me. So I called them one day and asked if anything was gone wrong – and yes, there was! They immediately got my details, and I got an appointment to donation in the beginning of September. But then I got sick with an virus infection, and the rule is that has to go at least a month before you can donate blood, so I had to wait for today.

Finally I got donated some blood, and I also got registered as a stem cell donor and an apheresis donor – I hope to get contacted by someone one day. Let’s see if that’s gonna happen 🙂 I just think we have to help each others, as long as we can do, and save people’s life 🙂 I didn’t have the courage to become a doctor, because I’m sooo much scared of blood, cutting people etc., so I became an audiologist instead. But my ability to help others doesn’t stop here – I want to do more, so I decided to donate blood, and I also registered myself as an organ donor; and I also recommend others to do the same, if they can! 😉

The blood donation went very well, and everything was okay, including my hb percentage. So I don’t need to take iron supplements, which I’m happy about, because I hate tablets 😛

Hi, 2014

We are finally entering 2014, which I’m sure many have been looking forward to. I have a feeling that 2013 has been a challenging and tough year for many. Some may think it’s because of the number 13, but I don’t think so. Because good things have also happened for many 😉

For me, this year has been incredibly educational and has given me a lot. I’ve achieved the goal I set myself a long time ago – to finish my degree programme. So in October I officially became a Master of Science. in Audiology, after 6 months of intense thesis writing. Of course, it’s not supposed to be easy – there were some challenges in the form of some extraneous characters, but they didn’t stop me from achieving my goals!

But I didn’t give up and finished the thesis and handed it in on time. The following month I passed and got a job at the same time 😉

I can thank God and the good people around me for all this 🙂

The thesis is now available on audiologi.dk, and can also be found at this link.

It deals with hearing aid fitting with a measurement called Real-Ear Insertion Gain (REIG). Some would argue that this is quite irrelevant, as it’s “just” about asking the patient in question how the customised HA is.

However, many believe the opposite, as this type of measurement can reduce the time for readjustments, find errors and much more. I am therefore happy to be able to contribute what little knowledge I have been able to find through my thesis 🙂

Furthermore, my workplace has also decided to introduce REIG measurements, which I am really happy about. However, this was decided before I even started – so it has nothing to do with me 😉 Back on topic.

I’m looking forward to a year as good as 2013, and hope that the new year will also bring you all good things.

God bless.

Ivan Thaana? ♥️🎶

Yes – A.B.K. Entertainment is back after a long break! This time my brother has tried his hand at Tamil dubstep – not as heavy as the original dubstep that we know, but more “down to earth”, as befits a good Tamil song. In fact, he had been ready with the music and melody for weeks, so I only got the lyrics written on Sunday.

Then on Monday, I sent a sample to Singaporean singing talent Vidthiya VM so she could sing her part. On the same day, I recorded the chorus for my brother, which I would sing myself – and which my brother also wrote. My expectation was that it would take a few days before the song would finally be ready… But to my great surprise, the song was ready in the morning, the next day Ö

My brother sent it to me, and I listened to the whole song several times to make sure there were no corrections. On Wednesday, my brother had the video with the lyrics in English ready, and the song saw the light of day today 😉

My brother has shared the song on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Spotify, and Apple Music, and posted a mini-sample on Instagram, and so far the response has been pretty good 🙂 I guess since people are on holiday, only a few people are giving feedback – but I’m still happy, especially because people like the lyrics 🙂

Gulab Jamun – An easy way to make them ;)

Gulab Jamun… Yummy! It’s just the best desert, if you ask me! 😀

I have been wondering for a long time how to make gulab jamuns without the strange ingredient called mawa, which I have not been able to find in this country. A while ago, however, I realised that you can replace mawa with regular milk powder, thanks to the writer behind veggiebelly.com. She’s also a vegetarian, like me, so it’s great that you can find really good vegetarian recipes that I’m looking for 🙂
